This Privacy Notice explains how Melu Kids World ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data in connection with the Melu Kids World app (the "Service"). For the purposes of UK GDPR, Melu Kids World is the data controller.
Our privacy-first design
Melu Kids World is built to be private by design. The app runs entirely on your device. Game progress, unlocked content, and settings are stored locally on your device — we do not collect, transmit, or store this data on our servers. There are no accounts, no advertising, and no behavioural tracking or analytics.
Personal data we collect
Because of this design, we collect very little personal data directly:
- Locally stored game data (progress, unlocks, settings) — kept only on your device and not accessible to us.
- Purchase and billing data — when you buy a Pack, this is collected and processed by our payment provider and Merchant of Record, Paddle, not by us. We may receive confirmation that a purchase was completed.
- Support communications — if you contact us, we process the information you choose to share so we can help you.
Why we use data and our legal basis
- To provide the Service — performance of our contract with you.
- To process purchases and prevent fraud — performance of a contract and our legitimate interests in running the Service securely.
- To respond to support requests — our legitimate interest in supporting users.
Who we share data with
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of Packs, payment processing, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- Service providers who help us operate the Service (for example, app hosting and distribution), where applicable.
- Professional advisers and authorities where required by law.
International transfers
Where any data is transferred outside the UK or EEA (for example by our payment provider), appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions are used to protect it.
Data retention
Locally stored game data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. We retain support communications and any purchase confirmation records only as long as needed for the purposes above, and then delete or anonymise them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We aim to respond to requests within one month. Because game data is stored only on your device, you can exercise erasure of that data at any time by clearing the app's stored data or uninstalling the app.
Children's privacy
Melu Kids World is intended for children to use under parental supervision. We deliberately avoid collecting personal data from children — there are no accounts, no tracking, and no advertising in the Service.
Cookies
The app itself does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The checkout process operated by Paddle may use cookies that are essential to complete your purchase.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. Keeping game data on your device, rather than on our servers, further reduces privacy risk.
